چکیده

Recent experiments at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) [l] have demonstrated that the photoemitted number of electrons from a cesium-activated gallium arsenide (GaAs) crystal saturates at high incident flux, becoming insensitive to the incident photon flux at high intensity. This article offers a physical model that attempts to explain this phenomenon. A comparison of experimental data versus model predictions is also included.

Hydrogen-reduced bismuth oxyiodide nanoflake arrays with plasmonic enhancements for efficient photoelectrochemical water reduction

Bismuth oxyiodide has attracted strong interest as a nano-engineered material for high-performance electrodes in photoelectrochemical (PEC) cells. Herein, we demonstrate the visible-light-sensitive PEC photocathodes based on nano-engineered bismuth oxyiodide (BiOI). The photocathodes are comprised of plasmonic Au nanoparticles (NPs) on hydrogen-reduced BiOI (H-BiOI) nanoflake arrays. The BiOI-b...

GaN Photocathodes for UV detection and Imaging

The nitride-III semiconductors, in particular GaN (band gap energy 3.5 eV), AlN (band gap 6.2 eV) and their alloys AlxGa1-xN are attractive as UV photo-convertors with applications as photocathodes for position sensitive detector systems. These can “fill the gap” in the 150-400nm wavelength regime between alkali halide photocathodes (<2000Å), and the various optical photocathodes (>4000Å, mutli...

Testing of CsI Photocathodes Efficiencies in a Liquid Xenon Chamber

A summary of the Dark Matter problem and a more detailed overview of the WIMP/neutralino direct detection are introduced. More specifically the XENON – a next generation direct detection detector of WIMPs – is described. A detailed description is given on the techniques used in the current experiment to produce CsI photocathodes. Furthermore the tests done to check the performance of the CsI ph...

Properties of reflective and semitransparent CsI photocathodes

Various aspects related to the quantum efficiency of the reflective and semitransparent CsI photocathodes have been investigated experimentally . The investigation explored the dependence of the quantum efficiency on the following: the thickness of the photocathode film, the gas used in the parallel-plate avalanche chamber, exposure to water vapor, and the density of the CsI film . With reflect...

EUROPEAN ORGANIZATION FOR NUCLEAR RESEARCH European Laboratory for Particle Physics Aging of large area CsI photocathodes for the ALICE HMPID prototypes

The ALICE HMPID RICH detector is equipped with CsI photocathodes in a MWPC for the detection of Cherenkov photons. The long term operational experience with large area CsI photocathodes will be described. The RICH prototypes have shown a very high stability of operation and performance, at a gain of 10 and with rates up to 2x10 cm s. When exposure to air has been avoided, no degradation of the ...
